3. Check the Magnet, Not Just the Front

Ask what magnet the supplier plans to use for your size and weight, and press past the grade number. Holding strength on your actual product depends on more than magnet grade and thickness — magnet area, pole pattern and spacing, the adhesive backing, the finished weight of the piece, the direction the load pulls, how much of the magnet actually contacts the door, and the door’s own material and coating all change the result. 4. Confirm They Own the Machines — or Tell You When They Don't

Trading companies quote fast and sound professional. Then a question comes up mid-production, and the answer takes longer because someone has to relay it to a factory you can’t reach directly.

Owning the machines isn’t the full test, though. Plenty of genuine factories subcontract plating, specialist printing, or other single steps, and some trading companies manage engineering and quality control well. What matters more is whether the company tells you upfront which operations happen at the quoted production site and which they subcontract.

Ask which steps happen in-house: mold making, molding or casting, printing, cutting, magnet assembly, finishing. For anything subcontracted, ask who approves the subcontractor, who controls the specification, who inspects the incoming work, and who owns the fix if something goes wrong.

Ask for proof either way: a video call showing the production floor, photos of the specific machine your product needs, and a factory address you can check. 5. Ask Where They Catch Defects — and What Counts as a Defect

6. Test Their Timeline Before You Trust It

Ask for the lead time in stages, not as one number: sampling, mold making, mass production, packing, and shipping. A supplier who breaks it down that way has usually thought it through; a one-line answer like “about three weeks” is often a guess dressed up as a quote.
